Environmental Policy

At MB Digital, we understand our environmental responsibilities, supporting our customers to reduce their impact and carbon footprint while reducing our own too. Energy is a huge factor (see Resources below) and we also focus on the three Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle.

Reduce

  • Good, reliable, efficient office machines, especially printers, help our customers to minimise the amount of paper, toner and energy that they use. Managing print effectively and investing in preventative maintenance help to reduce their paper waste, keep toner use to a minimum and save on energy costs.
  • Across the Northwest of England, travel can have a big environmental impact. We put a great deal of planning into our engineers’ response routes, making sure that they attend urgent calls quickly but also using the most environmentally friendly routes.
  • Little things make a difference and our team all use their very own MB Digital travel cups while out and about or in the office so we don’t have any single-use plastic cups.

Reuse

  • The big thing under this heading for MB Digital is the refurbishment of printers when we can – and we’re experts at finding new homes for refurbished machines, saving money for our customers, reusing complex machinery and reducing waste.

Recycle

  • Any printers or office machines that cannot be refurbished are disposed of in an appropriate way and are sent off to a local specialist to be broken down into parts and recycled.
  • MB Digital take back empty toner cartridges and waste toner boxes from our customers and these are then sent off to be recycled. We don’t make special trips to collect these but will pick them up when passing or visiting the site.
  • At Beezon Lodge, we have a number of large recycling bins on site and any packing from new machines and other deliveries is split down and then collected to be recycled.

Resources

  • All our paper and office supplies are sourced in Kendal, close to home with minimum transport involved and the added value of supporting a sustainable community.
  • Awareness of the impact of digital communications is growing. The electricity required for streaming, emails, social media and websites is hidden but vast and MB Digital has signed up as a CO2 Neutral website since September 2021. CO2 Neutral Website certification means that we pay to compensate for the total CO2 emissions caused by our website and the money is invested in renewable energy projects and energy saving initiatives in the developing world.
