All change on Beezon Road

When our Managing Director, Michael Batty formed MBR Group back in 1983, the business began trading out of Beezon Lodge, a former GPO (General Post Office) building on Beezon Road in the heart of Kendal. MB Digital is still operating from that same site but there have been significant changes since 1983 and we’re into a new phase of development at present (August 2021) as the business continues to develop and grow.

The house itself is known as Beezon Lodge, with the single storey Beezon Hall to the south. In February 2010, planning permission was granted to convert Beezon Lodge into two houses and four luxury apartments, leaving the Hall as the base for our business since 2011. The conversion work on the Lodge was completed in 2013.

MB Digital has continued to expand and, having outgrown the space in the Hall, applied for planning permission to develop the roadside area to the SW of the Hall.

Originally, this planning permission was to create a large building with shops and offices at ground floor level and flats above.

However, given other developments in the immediate area and our own business needs, the development has been scaled down to a more practical space. New plans were approved early in 2021 for just two units, including a showroom and large warehouse space for MB Digital. The new dimensions and aspect will give us easier access for delivery of new machines and supplies and there will be offices above the showroom. A second separate unit will be available to the western side.

Building work on this new home for MB Digital began in July 2021 and visitors will have seen footings being dug over the summer. Reinforced steel cages have also been placed on site ready to be filled with concrete.

We’re continuing to occupy the Hall while all this is going on and there’s still plenty of parking alongside our current showroom so please don’t be put off by the construction site alongside Beezon Road.
